The service life of a rubber covered roller depends on material selection, bonding quality, hardness, surface finish, equipment alignment and the actual working environment.
Before production, the roller material should be selected according to contact medium, temperature, load, speed and required grip. During use, abnormal runout, bearing wear, excessive pressure and chemical exposure can shorten service life.
Regular inspection of roller surface wear, cracking, hardness change and shaft condition helps identify problems early. For worn rollers with reusable metal cores, recovering can be a practical way to reduce replacement cost.
